Animal House

Ever get the feeling you live in a zoo? Well, it seems like my flat's turned into one recently.
Pair of owls (in the shop now).
Pyramid of tardigrades (also in the shop now. Click here to straight to the listing.)
Lovestruck giraffes. Not yet in the shop, but they might be making an appearance at a craft fair in August.
A rather curmudgeonly narwhal. Should he be in the shop?
A baby unicorn. This one's all mine, it's going nowhere!

Deptford Project Market

Last Saturday was my first time at the Deptford Project Markets, and it was great! Mainly because I got a free waffle, with heaps of chocolate and ice cream. But I had loads of fun there too, and even managed to make a bit of money, despite it being a fairly quiet day there.

As well as having a cafe and various stalls in the venue, the Deptford Project also featured a sandpit with summery, stripey deckchairs, buckets and spades. For all your sandcastle construction needs!

Waffle Stop - who very generously fed me with their delicious waffles.

My bored, unpaid intern.

Mama G!

The stall next to mine belonged to the awesome Mama G, who kept me entertained during the quiet parts of the day with her jokes and singing. She also makes the tastiest jams, chillies and breads, which I got to sample. The wasps were fans of her stuff too, as they kept hovering over the plates of jams and chillies she had put out for tasting. Do check her out if you can, she makes everything herself!

My display

I finally got to use the awesome old leather suitcase I found downstairs as part of my display. It's almost like Mary Poppins' magical bag because it holds so much and I keep filling it with stuff and the Mancreature's arms end up almost falling off because it's so heavy.

For those of you who are in London, I will be at the RoundLondon Gives You Spots event in the Queen of Hoxton this Saturday, with a load of pretty new aprons and headpieces. There will also be a raffle on so you'll be able to win some fantastic items. Hope to see some of you there!

Something Blue

Playing around with Poladroid when I really should be writing and sewing.

If you're in Manchester this Saturday, come over to the Antifreeze show at the carpark of the CHIPS building and say 'hi' to me!

Antifrozen

This is how I feel right now:

Although, it's probably entirely my own fault. I sent in my application for a spot in the Antifreeze show up in Manchester last month, and then, assuming that I wouldn't get in as usual, didn't do any work for it at all.

And of course, I received an email from the organisers last week telling me that I have been selected to be in the show. Which meant I've only got all of two weeks to make stuff to fill a 5.5m by 2.4m space.

These guys are the only things I've got completed right now. But they're tiny! I should've just made them gigantic, so that they take up all the space which means I won't have to make anything else.

This is just a glimpse at the mess I've got on my 'work' table right now - dissected tardigrades, beads and stuffing everywhere, and blobs of yo-yos all around. I'm doing things to yo-yos that no one else should have to live through. I even have yo-yo dreams at night.

And I really should be looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend that I'll be in Manchester, instead of looking at pictures of coelacanths and mola molas.

Animal Antics

My friends A+B got married last Wednesday, and requested that guests bring their 'own picnic and giraffe'. So, being the dutiful wedding guest that I am, I made a giraffe and brought it to the wedding.

It was excited at being allowed out of the house, and proceeded to go a little wild. Here's the visual evidence -
Even a giraffe needs to rest after all that excessive drinking and partying.

He even managed to persuade the bride to take him home at the end of the night. I think he might stowaway in their baggage and join them in their Spanish honeymoon.

The Giraffe and The Tardigrades

A couple of friends are getting married on Wednesday, and their invitation states that we're supposed to bring our 'own picnic and giraffe'. Where the hell am I supposed to get a giraffe from? It's not like you can walk into the Sainsbury's and get them on offer! Plus I don't have the space or money to take care of one! It's all fine and dandy to make a witty comment like 'bring a giraffe' but sometimes, some people take things way too literally! GAHHAGAH!

So I made one. A little green one. One that doesn't require any feeding because it has no mouth.

I'm still pretty tardigrade-obsessed so I've been making more tardis as well.

The new tardis were introduced to the new giraffe this morning, and they all seem to be getting along fine. I now have a herd of tardis and a very confused giraffe all lounging about on my windowsill. It's a nice place to be.
